In the first quarter of 2021, the Latin American market witnessed significant activity among top Music and Podcasts applications on the Android platform. Here's a snapshot of how these apps performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Sueñovela, a newcomer from Singapore, showed a promising start with its downloads peaking at nearly 270K in the second week of January before stabilizing at around 140K by the end of March. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, hitting a high of over 300K in early February and settling at around 260K towards the end of the quarter. The app's revenue also saw a steady increase, climbing from approximately $7K to over $26K weekly.
TuneIn Radio: Music & Sports maintained a consistent download rate, starting the quarter with approximately 50K and ending with over 64K. Weekly active users showed a steady rise, from roughly 284K in late December to over 351K by the end of March. Revenue figures fluctuated slightly but generally remained around the $2K mark weekly.
Podcast & Radio iVoox from Spain observed a gradual increase in downloads, from about 9K to nearly 24K in the first week of March, before a slight dip to around 15K. Active users saw a modest rise from approximately 53K to 71K in mid-March, with a small decrease at the quarter's close. Revenue showed minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at around $378 weekly.
Sua Música, hailing from Brazil, experienced a peak in downloads in mid-February at over 88K, with a general downward trend to around 65K by the end of March. Weekly active users started at over 1.2M, reached a high of approximately 1.24M in mid-February, and then showed a gradual decline to just over 1M. Revenue remained relatively low, with a slight decrease from $284 to $223 weekly.
Lastly, MP3 Downloader - Music Player from China saw its downloads decrease from over 207K at the start of the quarter to around 109K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users followed a similar downward trend, from just under 1M to approximately 693K. Despite this, revenue saw a notable peak of $564 in early March, with the quarter ending at around $436 weekly.
